Is there a cost? How much can I use for free?
The app is free to use. There are no in-app purchases, paid plans, or subscriptions — the Collection, photo-based identification, the seasonal calendar, and every other feature are all free to use.
Can I use it offline, in places without a signal — while traveling or inside a restaurant?
Yes. Neta information and photos, as well as the photo-based neta identification feature, all run entirely on your device, so you can use the app even without an internet connection. It works fine while traveling abroad or inside a restaurant.
An internet connection is only needed when you choose to send feedback to help improve recognition accuracy.
How does the photo-based neta identification feature work? Is my privacy protected?
Photos you take are analyzed entirely on your own device. The app estimates the neta using Apple's built-in image-recognition technology on iPhone together with a recognition model built into the app, so your photos are never sent to a server.
The only exception is if you choose to send a photo yourself, using "Send this photo to help improve" shown when the result is wrong. This submission contains no personally identifying information, and the image is deleted within 90 days. Sending it is entirely optional.
What languages are supported?
Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese (Traditional/Simplified), French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, Vietnamese, and more — the app supports 20 languages and regions. You can switch anytime from Language Settings in Settings.
How many neta are included, and what kinds?
The app currently includes 48 kinds of neta. You can see explanations and season notes organized by category — red cuts of fish such as tuna, bright, oily-skinned fish such as kohada, squid and octopus, shrimp and crab, shellfish, and conger eel and tamago (egg).
More neta are being added over time. We also welcome requests for neta you'd like to see added.
What is "In Season" (the Calendar)?
The Calendar tab at the bottom shows, month by month, which neta are in season at that time of year. Use it as a reference when you want to know what's tasty for the season, or when you're not sure what to order at a restaurant.
Keep in mind that even for the same neta, the season can vary greatly depending on where it's caught. Please treat the calendar as a general guide only.
What's in the Reading Room tab?
The Reading Room tab offers trivia and short articles about sushi. New content will be added over time.
Will I receive notifications?
The app never sends push notifications. You won't even be asked to allow notifications, so you can use it worry-free.

You can reach us through the Contact form inside Settings. We welcome requests for neta not yet included, corrections to translation errors, and your feedback.
